Justyce McAllister is a good kid, an honor student, and always there to help a friend--but none of that matters to the police officer who just put him in handcuffs. Despite leaving his rough neighborhood behind, he can't escape the scorn of his former peers or the ridicule of his new classmates.

Justyce looks to the teachings of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. for answers. But do they hold up anymore? He starts a journal to Dr. King to find out.

Then comes the day Justyce goes driving with his best friend, Manny, windows rolled down, music turned up--way up, sparking the fury of a white off-duty cop beside them. Words fly. Shots are fired. Justyce and Manny are caught in the crosshairs. In the media fallout, it's Justyce who is under attack.

Review:
Well let me tell you, this book does not hold back and it was great! Nic Stone writes about truth within her characters, and I feel like there needs to be a lot more of that in books these days. A lot more on the stories that shouldn't be "banned" or hidden, especially from young readers.

From start to finish, you get to read these letters that Justyce writes, and I seriously loved those. I feel like having any sort of letter or note within a book, makes it more personal and I feel like I can connect to the character in some way.

This was definitely a raw and emotional novel, that packed a punch. I wish I had the second book in my hand already.

Now the only thing for me, is I really wish there was more... like a lot more. I wanted to read more about Justyce.

Other than that, this was a super quick read, I was drawn to the book the entire time, and I loved it! This is definitely one to check out, and I'll be grabbing the second book Dear Justyce soon!

That's all for my review, I hope you enjoyed it, and definitely go grab yourself a copy!

So until next time, Keep Reading!
Your Grauated Bookworm! :)
