Summary:
The sexy hate-to-love, black cat x golden retriever, billionaire romance that's impossible to put down.
Ryker Davenport is the reckless, arrogant heir to his family's company...and my ticket to a big promotion.
As a publicist at one of the top PR firms in New York, I'm used to handling tough cases--not impossible ones. But how better to prove I'm deserving of that promotion than to turn Ryker back into the golden boy everyone once thought him to be and convince the board that he's fit to lead? The only catch--we've got some history. The complicated kind.
Spending the summer working in the Hamptons wouldn't be so bad if I wasn't stuck here with the one man who knows just how to get under my skin and into my head. I've spent so much time with him that our fighting has slowly turned into something more. Something heated. Now I'm worried it's not just my head he's getting into, but my heart.
The job was to prove to the world that Ryker isn't bad for business, but in doing so, I may have proved to myself that Ryker isn't bad for me...
First, I'd like to thank Kat Singleton & team for sending me an ARC copy to review! I've had to sit on my thoughts for a little to make sure I was getting this out right! I will say that this one might have been my favorite so far from the series, and this hate to love romance was a great read!
Right from the beginning you dive into these characters that are forced to spend the summer together in order for Ryker to get the board members trusting him again. However luck would have it, that Ryker and Camille have a past... one that both believe to be justified in their hatred for one another. But of course as they spend more time together, they finally let their walls down and learn more about each other and the true events of their past.
One thing Kat is known for is the spice, and multiple chapters of spice. I will say I felt like this one was more dialed down than the previous book and honestly I liked that. While I love to have spicy moments, I do think it can be a bit too much when it's just like 5+ chapters of straight spice. It then starts to pull away from the story itself, but I'll say this time it was better for me personally.
I really enjoyed their story! I think it was a huge moment when Camille's father admitted that he didn't have faith in Ryker to get the boards approval, and to him it was just money being made. Not only did it really push both Camille to show her father that she's a great Publicist and is able to fix any issue, but it really showed what kind of man her father is, and when things went down further in the book... I gotta say Ryker really stepped up and shows him what a real man looks like. Of course there was a big turning moment for Camille as well and believe me, there was some cheering going on while reading it! It was exactly what she needed to to do grow.
One thing that I wished there was more talk about, to really open up their relationship was both of their moms. I know Ryker really got to express his feelings and everything he went through with the loss of his mother, but Camille didn't get as much time to talk about her own mother. I think it's something that would have really cemented their relationship had we got to read more about the important women in their lives.
Now while there was a lot of push and pull between the two of them from the beginning, I will say this was such a swoony book. There's one particular scene that of course had me in my feels, but I won't go into details so I don't spoilt it. BUT, there's a reason Kat made us slowly fall in love with Ryker and show his soft side!
Overall this was a great read! It was oh so hot and steamy, there were some hilarious back and forth banter, of course the friends groups from the country club make their appearance, which I always love, as well as som swoony moments from Ryker that had me blushing. If you haven't read this series yet, I highly suggest you grab your copies and binge books 1 & 2 today!
That's all for my review, I hope you enjoyed it!
So until the next time, keep reading!
Your Graduated Bookworm!! :)
