Review:

First, I'd like to thank Sourcebooks for sending me an ARC copy to review! I have to say this was my first read for Lilly Lucas, but I was pleasantly surprised and can't wait to read the next book in the series!

I will say this was definitely a ride to read and listen to. Personally the narration was okay, I felt like there were moments where better emotion could've been used to come across with what was happening in the scene. But that being said, it was still entertaining to listen to the characters go through this story from beginning to end!

Lou and Vince were messy. Point blank. Right from the start, he's broody, grumpy and has already set a target on Lou with her connections to everything that is happening in their town. And yet as time progresses, they spend an increasing amount of it together, you see his walls start to come down brick my brick and he becomes everything to Lou. Vince cares for Lou in ways that make him more than a grumpy next door neighbor, and I couldn't help but begin to fall for him myself. Though with that being said, there were times where I wanted to reach in and give them both a slap on the head.

The relationship that Lou forms with Vince's sister Laurie was really sweet, and the perfect kind of found family when Lou is coming to a new place to get herself ready for the next tennis tournament. Personally for me, I felt like there could have been more to read in this story after her tournament, they got together like right at the end after some back and forth.

Overall, it was a good book. Enjoyable, but there were times where I felt disconnected to the characters, the narrating didn't fully match the vibe of the scenes at times for me personally. Though it did keep me wanting to know what would happen between Lou and Vince from beginning to end, and leave me excited for the next book in the series!
