Summary:
Spicy lessons turn into undeniable chemistry, blurred lines, and broken rules between a reformed cowboy Casanova and the girl he’s secretly pined after for years in this steamy, friends-to-lovers, fake-dating, small-town romance by Ann Einerson.
I wasn’t expecting to bail my little sister’s best friend out of jail.
But what else could I do? I’ve wanted her for far longer than I care to admit. Too bad she thinks I’m a notorious playboy, leaving me firmly in the friend zone. Not that I didn’t earn that reputation once upon a time, but Birdie is the only one I have eyes for now.
Luck is on my side when, after a few too many shots, the girl of my dreams propositions me. Will I be the first one to take her for a roll in the hay and teach her everything I know?
Getting involved with the woman I’ve been yearning for is a bad idea. But it’s one I plan to take for a ride, especially when Birdie becomes my fake girlfriend with benefits.
This might not be my first rodeo, but agreeing to give her spicy lessons blurs the lines between friendship and what lies beyond. If I’m already bending the rules, I’m determined to lasso her heart.
First, I'd like to thank Ann Einerson & team for sending me an ARC to review! As always, I'm so captivated by Ann's writing and the worlds she creates. I've fallen for Birdie and Walker so easily, and honestly I'm sad that their story ended so soon for me!
Right from the beginning I was drawn to their story and I didn't want to put the book down! Birdie is both outgoing as well as somewhat shy. When it comes wot Walker, she can be her true self. But as soon as another man comes into the picture she gets frazzled and body parts may get hit, broken, or who knows what else! So when she asks Walker to help her stop being a hazard when she's trying to form a connection with a man, what else is he going to say other than yes? Even if he's been pining for her for years...
I personally loved that this story was a little different in the way they communicated with one another. I can't dive deep into it without spoiling, but there's a certain moment towards the end of the book where things start unravelling, and instead of the norm, Birdie took a different direction and I truthfully loved it! I think it was the perfect way to move the story along even when shit hits the fan!
Of course when it comes to a 'teaching' moment, you know it's getting hot in here! I think it was great for Walker to take things slow with Birdie as she tries to open herself up more, to let loose, and let go of things to find out what she wants and likes in life... and in the bedroom.
The way Ann had me swooning from the first to the last page, I could not stop loving Walker. He was all the things a book boyfriend should be and more. Were there some moments where I had an idea of what was going on, but to see how it all played out, I couldn't fault him!
There's one thing I want to talk about, although I know if I go into it more, I'll spoil it. BUT, the relationship that Birdie has with her mother, the way she wants to take care of both her parents, the way she's constantly so selfless with her life taking care of animals that are in need. She's like the purest woman ever. It was nice to see her growth into taking more control of the things she wanted, even while coming to terms with some realities.
Overall, this was a fantastic read! Another absolute favorite from Ann Einerson! I DEVOURED this one, it was hard to slow myself down because I didn't want it to end! The raw emotions, the connections between Birdie and Walker, the relationship with both of their families... it was perfection! I can't wait for the next book to come, and I so don't want this series to come to an end!
That's all for my review, I hope you enjoyed it and be sure to grab your copy today!
So until the next time, keep reading!
Your Graduated Bookworm!! :)
