Q: Can you tell our readers about yourself and what you do?
A: My name is Shana Vanterpool, and I write angsty, delicious and beautiful romance novels.
Q: How did you first get into writing and when did you decide to take the leap and go for it?
A: I love reading. It’s been a safe place for me since I was a child. But writing is creating safe places for others, and the moment I found that I could read and write, I knew there was nothing else I wanted to do.
Q: Who or what inspired you to do what you are doing now?
A: Every book I ever read that took me away inspired me and continues to do so.
Q: How would you describe your style with writing?
A: Chaotically beautiful.
Q: What is one thing you wish you knew starting out with writing or something you could have told your past self?
A: Be true to yourself, even if that means losing friendships.
Q: What do you do in your spare time?
A: Besides reading, I love spending time with my family and running.
Q: How do you motivate yourself to keep the novel going?
A: My readers. They’re truly special.
Q: What do you find the most frustrating and/or challenging aspect of writing?
A: Doubting myself. Self-doubt is a necessary evil. But too much of it can be hard to navigate.
Q: What would be your ideal working environment?
A: Writing in an office made of all glass in the middle of the forest. Edward Cullen walks by, and Bella’s old news. Come on, he sparkles!
Q: How much time do you spend writing and is it a hobby or job?
A: I try and write every day.
Q: Can you name some of your favourite authors and explain why they’re your favourite?
A: I love them all. We share the same passion. How amazing is that?
Q: What would be your go to meal, outing and Starbucks/Tim Horton’s Drink? Starbucks?
A: Where!? Venti, caramel iced macchiato. Ugh, my favorite!
Q: Kiss, Kill and Marry:
(Uncle Jesse from Full House, Jake Ryan from Sixteen Candles, and Jess Mariano from Gilmore Girls)
A: Kill Uncle Jesse, kiss Jess Mariano, and marry Jake Ryan
Q: If you were stuck on an Island what would be the three things you would want with you?
A: Chuck Norris (he’s all I’d need to survive, haha!)
Q: What sort of advice can you give to anyone out there that’s thinking about starting a novel?
A: If it’s your passion, it won’t be easy. But doing what you love never is. Doing what you love comes with hard work, disappointments, but unadulterated joy.
