Review:

First, I'd like to thank Sourcebooks, Corinne Michaels & her team for sending me an ARC copy to review! This is the third book from the series I've read, and I have to say I feel like each one is better than the last!!

Right from the beginning you're sucked into this story between Tessa and Killian and I have to say it might be one of the most entertaining moments I've read when Tessa realizes that she's just slept with a client. The relationship with them is top tier and as the story progresses, you see the exact reasons why they're perfect for one another. Even if it's forbidden in many ways!

I'm sure with some the age gap might be too much for people to read about, but honestly there were times where I didn't even think about that, it felt like they were close in age. Probably because of the maturity of Tessa, or the laid back parts of Killian... they complimented one another perfectly.

Of course when you're in a small town, you can't not LOVE the other characters in the book, and this one had me cracking up at moments, it was so entertaining. On top of that though, there were some really emotional scenes that pulled at the heartstrings! Not to mention the spice... did they ever get hot and heavy, even if it was supposed to stay a one night kind of thing.

Throughout the story, I wouldn't say exactly that there was suspense, but there was a bit of mystery as they try to find out what is happening with Killian's business. It has people scratching heads, and digging deep to uncover what winds up becoming the most shocking plot twist ever! Towards the end of the book when everything comes out, I had my mouth hanging open shouting "WTF" I don't know how many times as the scenes played out. I half suspected what happened, but in the end I was totally wrong. It was amazing and left me with my jaw on the FLOOR!!

Honestly I tried to take this book slow because I wanted to savor it, but I was devouring the pages as fast as I could, I could NOT PUT IT DOWN!

Overall, this was a favorite for the start of 2026, and if you haven't grabbed this book or the series, you're doing yourself a disservice!! It was entertaining, page turning, hot, sexy, emotional and filled with some twists you might not see coming! I loved every part of it and this town of Ember Falls!
